Its worth talking about anyway. I'm not saying I'm definitely right, but the evidence is on my side if you do some research in that higher rates=more accurate depiction of player positions so = better reg. Reg isn't bad,but there are some WTF moments that happen sometimes and also the game doesn't look as smooth with people using 30/30..its like you have 30fps just for them. The problem with high rates though is that if someone can't handle them because of their pc/isp then I guess thats not good for the reg either..You have to balance it and the head guys seem to feel the server has a nice balance atm, which I don't have a problem with if thats what they feel's best. The thread was just to get people talking about it and to see what people's thoughts are rather than me demanding changes. As Gandy said further up, its worth discussing and I don't think they feel they know everything there is to know about rates..and i'm not suggesting I do either..theres that much info out there (lots conflicting) thats its worth talking about to see if theres something not right or could be improved.
For eg something I meant to mention before but forgot, the Rate command is locked at minimum 20,000 I believe (or is it 25,000). That on some websites you look at would be considered too high if you don't also force higher cmdrate, updaterate etc. I don't know what the effect of that is, but I don't know why you would lock high Rate, but not also lock higher cmdrate, updaterate. Most websites would suggest higher than 30/30 for 20000 rate. If its assumed everyone can handle 20000 rate, then can they not also handle higher cmdrate/updaterate?
