ISeries August help

Postby Allan Ocelot on Thu Jun 13, 2013 12:00 pm

Hi All,

I just wanted to see what other peoples plans are for the ISeries, I am considering buying a ticket and heading down to hang out with the guys and gals of UKCS.
Never been to an iseries before, what should I expect.
Was thinking of just packing the pc up and bringing it on the train with me along with the guitar and staying in some cheap hotel for a couple of nights.

What about everyone else, any good hotels/local stuff to do?

Hotels, pah', come camp with the cool kids.

However - if you are, there are a couple of hotels on site. I'm assuming that they will probably be pretty full by now though: [link]

woop

Camping is always an option. When you get access to the i49 forum there are threads about accommodation, some people may be looking to share.

You'll be very lucky to blag a hotel room of your own this late in the day, but might find someone who is willing to share.

Head over to the Multiplay site for general info too http://insomniagamingfestival.com/

Looking forward to hearing your dulcet tones in person

I'm sure if your willing to pay your share you can share someone's hotel room if your not wanting to camp, would more than likely have to sleep on the floor though, but you'd get the benefits of a room, shower, toilet and breakfast haha

Im camping as usual - as long as you're prepared you don't usually miss a hotel room and its much more social (imo anyway). I haven't gone without a room, shower, toilet or breakfast when I have camped that I haven't found up to standard and I'm quite fussy. When I look around the LAN camping field, I see people with tiny tents that pop up or have barely any space, ofc those people go without having a room because their tent is only one space and there will be no room to cook breakfast.

If you actually spend at least £60 on a tent you will have ample space for storage, changing room, sleeping space, cooking space or whatever takes your fancy. Use common sense with bedding, don't sleep on the ground so have a mattress or raised bed thing, If your sleeping bag is under £25 and not that good of one then also bring a duvet for extra warmth and pillows if needed. Someone is usually kind enough to let others use their hotel room shower and the toilets really aren't that bad as some people make them out to be. Besides how often are you going to use the outside cubicles if you're planning to game alot? Perhaps bringing suitable camping gear for a good camping experience isn't available to some for whatever reason - no car, no money - those people should ask around, other people may have room in there tents or have room to bring one.

I believe the extra two rooms in my tent are now full but other people may have room. For Ragz and I, the tent was a great investment because now we don't have to pay out for a hotel each time and can put that money towards the house or spend it at LAN on pc goodies and nice steaks for dinner and bacon for breakfast which we cook in our tent.

At LAN I'm going to and helping to organise the BBQ, over 30 ukcs peeps signed up to it already so should be a good social event. Will hopefully go to the pub quiz, its always a laugh. hopefully there are a couple of twister games going on, that always brings out the child in me. At LAN I kind of just go with the flow... Its all about the social side for me!

For camping stuff try finding your nearest Go Outdoors, if you get a membership card there, they discount all your items and the membership card is like a one off £5 payment x

EDIT: haha just noticed the date and that youi'd probably gone shopping already!
