Stupid game killed my speakers!!!!!!!

I was nearly in tears as I have some beautiful Altec Lansing THX 5.1 babies!

So I install HL2 after waiting ages for it to install I go to play Source, another 30 minute wait to update. Get to Source all excited, no sound  .

Exit out of Source, back to windows, no sound WTF

Now I'm getting worried :( . Change the Subwoofer fuse, no dice. Re-seat the Audigy 2, no cheese.

Now my eyes are welling up (well...almost)

A bit more messing around, Creative diagnostics says all ok....how the fuck does it think no sound is ok...POS software! So then I decide to try to re-install the driver and get 'WARNING - the driver you are about to install is older than the one you currently use' erm...no it isn't, or at least it shouldn't be :?

So then it dawns that HL2 must have updated the Creative driver (with a fucking awseome update I must say). Install original and I'm back in business :D

Now I'm expecting HL2 to waste a god few hours but not like this.....total utter bastard!!!

Death when your sound goes off try going into Options, Audio and try changing the Speaker Config to something else then back again.
I had to do that when i was playing CS:S beta to get my sound back on track.
