time dr freeman?

is it that time already?

you have done so much in the timespan...

i have had some offers

i would not take them but you are.......something very special

i will take the liberty of choosing for you...

when though, i am not at liberty to say....

in the mean time this is where i get off

thats the outline of what he says, i think hes trying to say that there is going to be more work for freeman in the future, almost as if someone else has been watching his progress throughout the previuos 2 games, i think we can almost certainly expect a half life 3, and who knows where thats gunna end up..........

wonder if thats any help to you lol

I think thats part of the reason why its so good, in hl1 u see the g-man several times but you dont kno wtf hes up 2, then at the end he suddenly gives a choice, work for him or die basically, and the ending is hinting that u were workin for him, it leaves sooo many questions, probably just to get people to buy hl3, I WANT IT NOW!!! :x

I gave up trying to understand the ending, there were whole 20 page threads on the steam forums, filled with max length posts, just discussing who the gman is. Just accept that you don't have a clue what's going on and wait for hl3 :P

That or make up your own plot. It can involve hookers. And porn. Yay.

i have worked out the ending. and while the solution required me to be absolutely smashed, it did make sense when my mate ran by me what id said the night before.

first we must make a major consideration about the game:

while you are indeed employed by gman at the end of the first game your job is not defined.

when you start in the station you are not given a task, an objective, nothing, you are indeed just there, no reason at all.

this is echoed by stuff that bad guy scientist says at some point in the dialogue, about how no one has asked freeman to do anything, and how freeman is foolishly aiding the resistance without and reason or purpose.

and so when the game ends abruptly with you apparently not saving the day so to speak, is it so wrong?

you were never told to save earth from the combine, is it wrong that you therefore dont?

you werent told to do anything, you just did it, and now your gonna do summat else.

Anyway this conclusion leads to ideas such that gman dropping you off on earth was a test, or just to drop you off while he sorted out your real job, almost like a vacation rather tha your mission.

what do think of this explanation?

hmm finally sum1 with a possible explanation....

yes u may be right but only the guys who write this stuff really know,

i reckon they dont even know who the g-man is.. just make it up as it comes.

lol so if the whole of hl2 is Gordons test, or vacation, think about how good his actual misson is. Who thinks alyx is dead btw? or does she get saved?

The REAL mission will be in HL3

In 5 years....

I should really point out, as with all other plot discussions, this is purely SPECULATION. We don't know any of this, it's all guesswork. It's fun but, don't get your heart set on a particular plotline. Knowing what Valve are like, they wont have actually decided on a final plot yet, and will carefully invent one along a completely different line to popular belief just to suprise people... :p

the whole point is it doesnt matter that alyx is dead or not. she simply adds a more human interaction, this way its harder to let go of everything at the end of the game. and so you question the stuff more
