HL2 is based off C++ and HCSL for the graphics.

C++ is a hard one to learn if you don't have previous experience, but it isn't too hard if you look at the VERC:

It will be quite hard to make a full conversion mod without C++ experience mind you, but coding your own weapons and stuff is really quite easy.

Ill be makin mods, as soon as i learn C++, in depth, in my software development course at uni.

As for a website, i saw a gd one for HL2 mods

http://msdn.microsoft.com/coding4fun/ha ... fault.aspx

it also has a section and tutorials for makin ur own games.

Hve u got a specific idea in mind for a mod?

Yeah, a snwoboarding mod would require new shaders, particle physics and real physics

Also unless you wanted it in first person new player rendering stuff.

Just try making a mod on HL2, if you don't fancy making a map I'll make you a quick one based around some snow, and just slowly change each bit at a time.

Then once you know what you're doing you create a new mod from the code and give it a go. You'll also need some 3d modellers mind you ^_^
