Insurgancy; Worth Downloading?

Given our kin-ship with HalfLife 2, here is a separate forum to discuss anything related to HalfLife 2 and the various Mods out there (eg, Gary Mod, Zombie mod etc)

Sorry but you still need a Source game.

"This game requires that you own a Source engine game such as Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 2, or Day of Defeat: Source. Click here for a full list of games that meet this requirement."

It would be good if they allowed modders to release standalone Source mods but even Valve isn't that cool.

And yeah.. Insurgency. I tried it once and was unimpressed. I'm gonna give it another go now that it's on Steam. I think it's a bit of a tasteless base for a mod though. WW2 games are bad enough.

I've started getting really into Insurgency now. It's one of the most realistic mods I've ever played. You can kill someone with about 2-3 shots.

Its ok, just not as good as it should have been, there was alot of hype before it came out, then it was worse then expected and the community went away, not much servers anymore.

Cod4 is much better :D

If you like such stuff play Red Orchestra or better get your hands on Darkest Hour a RO Mod which is way better than RO and well, pretty nice WWII Western Front Shooter.

Insurgency is hmm, yeah it´s ok I would say.

i got it too and agreed with what aview says but then i turned the brightness up abit and its alot easier, its not like cs where you can take 4+ shots and still be alive, u get shot twice or something and you die, ive only survived once where i saw the enemy after he saw me, and it was only as i could duck for cover, then pre fired him in the nose lol

Yeah, it can be really annoying but you've just got to take your time. If you go really slow and crouch and crawl you should be fine. There's loads of people that just camp and wait for the people that run in for a fight.

Yea, it gives me LOADS of thrills, that survival instinct of ours working its magic. :)
Some maps are quite unbalanced though, like Sinjar for example, it's a hell ride for the marines.

Well worth a d/l mate. As others have said it takes a while to get into but its well worth it. Have a look for the OC 28 player server, its very good for a public server and you get alot of team players who use the mic which always helps.

One bit of advice though, try not to shoot the Boomstick indoors

Definetly worth of trying atleast. It's pretty realistic and good. Many people play it for real, tho you'll always run into fools, but they are mostly insurgents. US team usually has more tactical people. I play Insurgency with my friends very realisticly and tactically, like we play airsoft. We are usually on top of the scoreboard anyway.

Basicly, from atleast AK-47 and L1A1 rifles kill with one shot to chest usually. I found L1A1 the most accurate and best weapon in the game, tho it's semi only.

Only bad thing I find in Insurgency, is that you can't see very far, there is an annoying fog effect thing, and with sniper rifles, somewhy it comes earlier. (Without scope you see further) You can see the furthers with corners of your "screen" or view. (like BF2)

I find Sinjar quite easy for marines. A is pretty easy to capture, if you rush in instantly when the game begins, or if all insurgents aren't on the hill, in good positions. After A, use the busses and cars for cover when approaching B. However, when I play with my friends, we almost always flank right, climb up to the far right side of map and enter the town there. Usually the rest of our team is already pushing toards B, and it's easy to shoot the insurgents in the back, and then capture B. C isn't very hard either, unless the insurgents can hold the town properly, and no marines can sneak in. D is just spawnkilling all insurgents that try to get out, while pushing in from all directions, tho you have to have people outside still watching when you get in, since D is just a small room in the small building, where insurgents spawn into the other room and upstairs, they can easily get to throw a grenade into the room, killing everyone capturing it.
