I would also like to chip in regarding frame rate issues. Seeing how I usually play on a laptop which struggles to hit above 20fps- playing these go maps is a right pain in the proverbial. When these maps come on my fps drops to below 8. I'd have more fun playing a powerpoint presentation. I know it's probably my fault for not having the hardware, but i'm not the only one that experiences problems running it.

The only time I have seen these maps on are when the server is full.

I need for people to clarify if this is the case for them, and that it only happens when a large number of players are on at the time, or if it happens regardless of the number of players.
Mads thoroughly checks out every map before it goes live on the servers, but the one thing he cannot do is check how a map plays with more than a handful of players.

Providing download links for de_train_csgo, de_inferno_csgo & de_nuke_csgo

They are likely to be tested a few times during weekend on live server prior to any decision being made if they are suitable for rotation.

Extract them straight into the maps folder.

So let me get this right, you don't want the normal versions of those maps on, but you do want the csgo varieties. :)

btw I removed nuke some time ago and train is played rarely except on special occasions. The Inferno we have on is the original one from years ago.

I recently played dust2_csgo on another server and personally I liked it, I thought it looked nice, and made a refeshing differenece to alot of source maps. I bought a new PC a few months ago so framerate isnt really an issue for me anymore, however I'm sure that on my old computer (8800GT 3or4GB ram and AMD3800+) playing it would have been a problem, especially on servers. To be fair to Valve they have always been fairly good about releasing games with good fallback support, and Im sure if you look back to when source was first released the same would have been true, people playing on machines 4-5 years old would have had framerate issues too. Also remember for the moment we're running the map on the current source engine, maybe the map will run better on older PCs once the engine updates have been implemented.

Tbh, it seems to me that CSGO has very little to do with the PC community really, in its design and intention CSGO seems to be all about bringing CS:S to the console market... rather than providing us with a new Counter-Strike game. After 7 years they have only managed to update 2 maps in any significant way (dust2 and aztec)... from what I have seen, nuke, inferno, train are almost identical to the source maps except that the layouts have been "dumbed" down and made simpiler.

My biggest concern i think is that CSGO is simply going to serve to split the CS:S community in half... with some people upgrading to the new version and others sticking to source.

Whilst I love source and valve I have been becoming dis-illusioned over recent years. CS:S is now 7 years old, and the new version seems little more than a large update (that we have to pay for). They completely screwed over all the people who bought L4D by releaseing L4D2 exactly one year later, destroying their community and forcing many to buy a second full-price title. And dont forget, the orange box was released 4 and a half years ago and there is still no sign of HL2-EP3. So all they've managed to do recently is release POrtal2, which I certainally enjoyed, but doesnt come anywhere close to making up for everything else.

I really wish that the community would start to lobby valve and ask them what the hell they think they are doing.

Anyway... I'll end this rant now... sry 'bout that.

:)

(P.S. Thanks for posting the map downloads Mots, ive been wanted to chek out these maps personally)

I personally love the CSGO versions of the maps. Way too many people are just flat out against change of any kind and they are usually the most vocal which is a shame. So I'm going to give a quiet thumbs up to these maps :D (and I'm running a Pentium 4 2.8GHz from 2002 :/ )

Whilst I haven't been on much recently, they're just variants of maps everyone has played so so so so so much in the past - dust2 is boring, in whatever shape or form it comes in.

Still no chance on getting nuke or inferno back on the servers?

Nuke lags big time with anything over 40 players on, and is too big for a small number of players. In both instances there are always many complaints.

de_inferno I will have a look at as a guest map.

sorry jumping in here - Nuke is a small map once you learn it which is very easy to do - which is why it is so commonly used in mixes

I could put nuke on #2 with a minimum player amount, if players really wanted it. Like I said, it is too laggy for server #1.

However for none CSS:GO maps you should post in here viewforum.php?f=17
