Server #1 Maps

Quite simply put, a server by server approach is needed so that players can get the most out of game play on UKCS CSS servers.

As such I am creating 2 new Stickies for maps specific to particular servers. In this case these are server #1 maps.

This does not mean that maps will al be different, since many maps are good for a cross section of all servers with large and small numbers, that are well liked by all.

However we do know that in the main Server #1 players can be different to those players that frequent server #2, and as such a choice of maps can and should be made for player preferences by server number.

Please post below maps that you would be interested in seeing exclusively on server #1.

de_forest looks awesome but it's just too hard to see people and in a game where you only have 1 life it's frustrating being killed by someone you can't see hiding in the bushes. In my opinion the only way a forest/jungle map can work well in CSS is if the forest is just the back drop, or if one team spawns in the forest but the main battlefield is out of it away from the trees.

I see your point Lurky, and i agree, but forest is not like every other map, and that is what it makes it so much fun.. hiding in the bushes with the knife waiting for 10 enemies to run past you.. and then :cheers: :cheers:

Imo it can be added to server and played for the fun, and not for the serious css public whores ;)

and again so many good maps and u still run half a day stupid classic maps...i have few maps to suggest too. check them if u have time pls maybe ppl will like them.

haha Luunde, Forest was terrible on VIA :P I think it would be even worse on UKCS without a slay script, people would be hiding so hard Rambo would be jealous.

Consider de_roma_aimstyle though, map is very high paced and fits the server1 atmosphere pretty nicely.

Or maybe de_beroth also fairly good pace, pretty open and balanced.

de_varasto there is already a version of this on Server #1 and de_nightfever is played regularly on Server #2, so you could always hop over to Server #2 to play de_nightfever using /swapme :D

Hey guys long time no post,

Id like to say that over the past 10 years of playing on UKCS I feel like the maps on rotation now are the worst selection we have ever had.

Firstly, there are a few issues I believe need to be resolved. The MAP RATING and MAP VOTING systems are terrible. they need to be programmed to only appear at the beginning of a round not half way through, which makes everybody hit any key. so most maps are actually rated 'excellent' but its just people trying to get the damn box off their screen so they can carry on playing.

therefor i would suggest that the current ratings for maps are wildly different to most players quite probably feel. heres a few suggestions..

cs_militia
de_vegas
bluecorridor needs to get played more.

Id like to see a return of that rats style map that had multiple rooms of the house in it, was perfect for 64 players.

But to be perfectly honest, I think the issue at hand should be more to do with which maps need to be REMOVED as opposed to ADDED.

niaoroon is an absolutely terrible map, with a lazy design, no details and terrible gameplay for a server like UKCS.
the edited DUST2 is also terrible, these maps do not follow the simple rules of cs map making, which make it into a deathmatch cod type game.

Personally I would like to see much bigger maps added to the rotation on #1 and the getting rid of maps like office which we have a dedicated server for.

We are currently testing new maps for Server #1 based on Player opinion and recommendations :D
A version of de_beroth is to be tested on Server #2 this week, please see here for details.

bluecorridor is on Server #1 rotation and the maps played are player voted on, so perhaps this is a sign that either players don't wish to play it that often or players are spamming buttons during map votes, in which case players need to take more care during next map votes :!:

Keep an eye out for some new map tests very soon :P

instead we have maps like aurora with its bugs glitches unbalanced gameplay and generally ugly looks.


I think it is the most aesthetically pleasing map on the entire server - each to their own :P

As for bugs, please report any new ones here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=59466
The bugs that have been previously been reported have been fixed as far as I am aware. So if there are still issues, definitely report them.

Equally, discuss what areas are unbalanced to what team in the above thread too.

corse looks pretty, I want to try that. I've played desperados, it's fun, but maybe a bit small for UKCS #1? think 30 players at the top just mowing down whoever tries to get up. There are quite a few ways to get up though.

It works, only it might at times be sliiiiighty CT biased, if the T's are camping to much or just trying to left rush repeatedly, but that shouldnt stop us from testing it, since there is always that option of going a diffrent way ;)

It used to frequent the VIA server every day and it was great fun playing it there, really high pace map that suits the "meta game" of UKCS #1 really well.

That is what is needed, there is nothing worse than going onto a map, where someone just sits in a corner sniping all and sundry, and people have to sit in spec for long periods because of these types. Worse still they are supposed to rescue hossies or plant a bomb, and just sit there for the kill points.

Amen sir! And this map doesnt really favor campers, though there are some mean spots on it, but there is on every map.

de_gallery is now on Server #1 rotation and de_roma is now on Server #2 rotation - due to size and style of the map it is unsuitable for Server #1 however you can always use /swapme to come play it on Server #2.

de_nighthawk_pro is due to be tested on Server #2 this Wednesday (28/08/2013) with intentions of adding it to Server #1 if test goes well. Details of the test can be found here.
