Hello, fellow big-footer
Basically I agree with cowboyfromhell^^
I currently use a pair of cheap-ish Scarpas (can't remember the model) and they're okay although the stitching has blown on the sides and they're no longer waterproof. I bought them from Cotswolds which now seem to stock size 13s more regularly.
I had Scarpa Charmoz's before that and used them solidly for 4 years - winter/alpine mountaineering (including on gabbro which is stupidly abrasive), hiking, scrambling, birdwatching (hiking through saltmarshes and bogs sometimes) etc. When they finally went it was pretty rapid though. I first noticed a crack in the tip of my boot at the end of day 1 of a multi-day hike and by day 4 (when I finished the hike early) the tip of the boot itself was flapping off and was getting a lot of grit/sand in it. I'm considering getting another pair of these now I live in Scotland and can get back into mountaineering properly again.
