Those subterranean seas of methane virtually reshaped the planet when they explosively blew from deep beneath the waters of what is today called the Gulf of Mexico.

This makes the whole story bogus, since it is known that a meteor struck the Gulf of Mexico and caused an ele, absolutely nothing to do with methane.

if there was that large amount of methane there u can be sure it would already be tapped, bottled and sold.
before planting a hugely expensive rig the region is mapped and studied in detail.
not noticing such a large volume of sell able gas would be like standing on a million euro's worth of gold while begging for change ...

small list of global killing events that could happen at any moment:
- large asteroid impact
- supervolcano eruption
- comet impact
- star going supernova
- gamma ray burst
- passing black hole
- earth passing through poison gas cloud
- large object not impacting but shifting earth's orbit
- ....

so what if we all die, nobody cares.
how so?
well, there would be nobody left to care ... :D

Of all the ways to die were going to all be killed by a massive fart
There are 10 types of people in the world: those that know binary, those that don't, and those that didn't expect this joke to be in base 3.
