Abuse in a nursing home

Postby lockwyn on Fri Jan 20, 2012 1:36 pm

Just saw this disturbing video. Its from a nursing home in Italy. Shows staff that abuses the patients.
Makes me so angry and sad to see. The golden rule "Do to others that you would want done to you",
does not exist here. Its filmed with hidden cameras. The staff members are all taken care of by the
police by now. This abuse have become a part of the "culture" of the staff at that place. Reminds me of
the nazi culture. Viewers discretion is advised.

That's just SICK!
No way to treat a person who is incapable of defending themselves. Bizarre shit, didn't even watch it all the way.

Where is the respect for people gone?

yeah, the uk had a huge problem with this not too long ago. stricter measures were taken in to policing staff and quite a few 'care' homes were shut.
i don't even want to watch the video. i don't feel the need and can just imagine how horrific it is. even verbal abuse against old people is distressing.

Humans at a base level are barbaric. This sort of thing will always happen until there is a shift in how our society currently works. And I am talking about a massive phase shift in how we reproduce, educate and enlighten.

Sadly when you pay absolutely the minimum for a job then the dregs of society will always be some of the people who take that job on, this doesn't apply to everyone happily, I have friends who work in the care sector and they love their jobs and those they look after but a part of me can't help wondering that if we paid those who care for our vulnerable members of society a decent wage, if the care would improve

My feeling is that it probably would

Agree but it's only going to get worse as life expectancy continues to rise. The Elderly/Retired only make up like 14% of the population (at least in the UK not sure about other countries). Once everyone is living 90+ and 100+ there's going to be a huge chunk of the population not working or contributing to society, the taxpayers just won't be able to look after them all unless physical and mental ability improves with life expectancy and retirement age increases to 85 +/- but then i can't see people wanting or willing to work for that long.

It's A REACTION BASED ON EMOTION which, I would say, isn't justice.

what he is trying to say is that by reacting to these people would be as bad as what they did, 2 wrongs do not make a right

all that beating will do is fill them with resentment and hatred and thus increase the downward spiral besdies why should I allow scum like that to drag me down to their level???

I KNOW I am better than that!

You wouldnt get down to their level. The people who killed Sadam/Osama etc didnt get down to their level. Jail is far from enough. It aint justice.
