According to the latest polls the YES vote is in the lead. Farewell, Not So Great Britain.

Polls are generally bollocks.

BTW I loved the "if they vote yes we'll put up a border and border controls" statement from some mp. Tit.

They should erect a fence with barbed wire and set-up roadblocks, just in case.

It's an interesting situation. I haven't really read anything about it but what happens if Scotland secedes?

What happens to their EU status? They can't join the Schengen Area. What about Scots living in England and Wales?

if you don't vote then don't moan about the result that's my opinion. for me it matters not one jot how it pans out, the whole saga is an interesting one spoilt by the politicians constantly bitching about each other. all I can say is that I for one (either way) will be glad when it is all over.

Personally both sides have handled it poorly, too many feels and insults and not enough hard facts. :( it would be nice to see scotland stay and go at this again in a few years time after both sides have worked out the hard facts.

I wonder how much money this Government have spent on this to date. So many promises so little action, so many threats of hot air, we will put prices up (go ahead, people will shop somewhere else) price war starts, prices come down. We will move our bank, go ahead you will not be able to own any property in our country etc etc, bitch bitch bitch YAWN

Wales next :P

I will be glad when its all over, if it is a no, we shall see how long it takes for this Government to act on its promises if ever. No matter most people soon forget and get on with the hum drum fact of trying to live in an economy where the rich didlers rule.

I think the only hardcore facts I found was that The Queen would definitely remain Queen of Scotland but that's not really an important issue.

I completely agree that this has been more about emotions than actual facts.

Would a yes vote mean border controls and Scottish Passports. After all they would be just another foreign country, that is not part of the UK, and not part of the Eu either. :P :D

Bawbags. I can't wait for the next general election after which Tories and UKIP form a coalition. Then couple of years later, the UK will exit from the EU and Scots will go apeshit.

I'm happy with how it's turned out so far but we need to get the ball rolling on the devolution powers but I think we have to wait for Salmon to stop crying first :?

On another note councils are now wanting more powers so they can control tax .. I personally think that for a body of people who can't accurately fill/fix potholes shouldn't be aloud to also control tax.

Just of interest now really, but wonder how long it will take any UK Government to devolve powers, if ever. UK Government cannot even keep its promise on a Eu Vote, What chance is there of them actually really doing anything.

As far as Councils are concerned, they are limited by the UK Government in so many different ways, and are creamed for everything they earn and yet have stipulations enforced on them by way of useless legislation that costs the councils money. The bedroom tax is one of these, and that particular legislation has cost councils a lot of money in lost revenue, which the Government do not make an allowance for. If you care to notice, there have been a spate of roadworks going on over the past few months, with only a minimal amount of roads being repaired. This is because the Government have just released money to councils for road works, after many complaints from Conservative boroughs, fearing a backlash in the next major UK Election Vote. Don't mix up national road network with local authority roads. National Roads are funded by Government, Local by councils.

Councils in the UK are held to ransom by Government, and yet are not allowed to increase revenues, and yet have to pay central Government ever more money, whilst having to pay more out because of useless legislation.

Hardly any wonder councils want more control of tax revenue.

The supposed agenda is Scotland first, then the UK. Don't hold your breath in anticipation for either, now there is a no vote.

plus the changes David Cameron and co promised in a panic will require not just additions to the statute books but a change in the constitution which is a MUCH bigger deal

I highly doubt they will do what they promised... They are polititians, they say pretty much anything to get what they want.

Personally I am sort of disappointed to not see this happening, it would have been interesting to watch how the independence would be developed and see what happens and how institutions like the UK and EU would respond.
