It hardly has an effect on high end computers, but you can notice the difference on old PC's using configs and changin' DX levels.

I took a leaf from 3DMark06 and thought I'd run the CSSVST at that resolution.
Settings of 1280x1024, 16x AA, 16x AF, Everything high, Reflect all, HDR Full, Color correction ON, VSync off.

My FPS went to 364.83 hardly a dramatic change. Again this illustrates my point of why standardise.

If it wasn't bad enough I've cracked the 19k mark now  A friend managed 19995 so I'm trying to crack 20k to annoy him.

Ah well here is mine. I ran it a few times and got different results each time. This is the best.

Q6600 @ 2.7
ATI HD4870
2GB PC2-8500
Asus P5W-DH Deluxe

Running @ 1280x1024 with everything full and 8xAA and 16xAF

It'll do I suppose :)

I would imagine that Mic's is better because of his 1333 FSB?
Have a nice day!

Thank you Nelsaidi.
I set myself a task that if uncompleted I would be upgrading my computer (life and death eh :D). The goal was to crack 20k in 3DMark06 with my current hardware cooling mods were allowed. 20k some may think thats mental but I know that any later gen card can and will break the 20k mark if you can OC it properly. 4870s and 280GTX break it at stock clocks with good CPU but again I do not have these. A few tweaks here and there and I can run 3.6GHz on Q6600 and 660/1000/1400 on 8800GTX in SLi. The problem was the CPU being such a bottleneck to the system so I had to get that lil sod up and brutal. After some thinking I'd convinced myself that 4GHz would crack the 20k mark as the GPUs were now buzzing so fast. I did some burst runs at lower levels and it seemed I was about right. Could I get my computer to stay cool enough while running 4GHz and mental GPU clocks? No, not for all the love and patience I had but then........WINTER! I may be two generation behind but I'm still playing up the top, if only my aim was better :D

lol!
Nice results :D, out of curiosity how hot does it run :O?
I can probably get my cpu to about 4.2 ghx, however the ram does not allow this. It is stable at 3.6ghz in a variety of benchmakrs, and runs at 55 - 60c on load (i have pretty poor cooling too). CSS i get 300 fps on the stress test, even on full hd (1920 x 1080)! :O. Id run it now, but its broken for me, will take 10 times longer to complete, no idea why, happened after i updated my direct x.
