No he shouldn't he should be higher than you but not by much and thats at standard clocks.
4Gb RAM ain't no good unless you heapsize CSS and even then you'll only get ~3fps

Fair enough so. :)
Dr.C, check around online for some reccommended overclock settings for your card. it can be done from within Nvidia Control Panel itself. would love to see what a little tweak would do to your fps.

I would not try overclock for the life of me. I fail when it comes to that stuff.

My Nvidia driver is version 175.53. according to the site 179.28 is the newest one out. Should i update? Will it make much different?

yeah i know im a newb at this sort of stuff, i just bought the laptop to play CSS :D

aMine was 300 or so, but since the dx update, it runs so slow and comes up as 200fps (ingame the performance is great, if not better though)

Just to let poeple on this know HL2 is currently being 64 bit edited. Meaning those with 64bit OS will finally be able to use more RAM and more CPU power. Obviously with HL2 being done CSS should get a boost as they are same engine. Still loads of bugs though but one version worked well for me but only in windowed. Gotta force 32bit now.

Is there any way to increase this? I get 280ish and my setup should be well higher IMO.

You don't need to set fps_max to anything other than 0, which just means that fps_max is not capped.

As for the fps figure, that is an approximation of what fps you would actually get if all the data could be displayed directly from your card over a bus, and is not the actual figure that gets sent to the monitor. With such high figures like 200 plus, it is not worth knowing, other than as an academic point of view.
