One uses 64 tech the other doesn't I think anyway :)

64 is better ;-)

The winchester is 90nm and the newcastle is 130nm. Which what I understand is different chip processes where 130nm is better than 90nm

Interprator here, 130nm means a lot more goes into a smaller space.

Smaller space meens less internal track length = Less Heat generated.

Less heat generated = better overall perormance / mW

Other way around i'm being told to the left of me :D

90nm allows more to be fitted into a smaller space :)

It's the other way round.. 90nm is a finer manufacturing process than 130nm = less heat, smaller die etc etc 90nm Winchester is the better of the two.

see here for a proper comparison > http://www.bleedinedge.com/reviews/processor_reviews/a64/ap64_01.html

Corect o mundo

Guess the brain slipped into neutral

Just an aside from this there is a set of new processors coming out with a 65nm process, err just thought you would like to know. :)

I am as well thinking of getting the :

AMD 64 Bit 3500+ Socket 939 Winchester

How much are you getting yours for mate? I see a few for less than 200, which im quite glad, as I dont really have much to spend.

Could you spill teh beans? :D

If you could hold out a month or two the new "Venice" chips should be out.
Much better quality processor, check out what the lads at XS done with one :D

I'll be waiting for a good 2 / 3 months anyways, So ill see how expensive it is.

Only really looking to fork out around 600 quid for this :

AMD 64 bit 3500+ skt 939 @ 170
Nvidia 6800 GT 256 mb @ 240
Geil 1 Gigabyte Dual Channel Value Ram @ 70
ASUS a8v deluxe Rev. 2 @ 70
Thermaltake Butterfly PSU 480 Wattt @ 60
Case @ 50

I'm hoping the Nvidia 6800 GT will become cheaper after the 512 mb Vram comes out, as well as the 3500+ being cheaper with the "venice" chipset as mentioned earlier.

Does anyone reckon that the Graphics Card I want will get cheaper? I hope it does, since my one just now is a bit hmm mince, and I'd sure love to get a 6800 GT.

You could go for a 6600GT :) Still a damn fine card and a lot cheaper than 6800GT :)

Im not sure about the 6600 GT, its just something tells me that if im gonna fork out a good hundred odd quid, I might as well get something worth my money, as in paying that extra 50 quid to get a superior card is worth it, if you see what I mean.

If your into Over-Clocking, the 6200 (not the turbo cache version) seems to be the of exact same build as the 6600GTs. Grab one of them for ~

Since the new card is allready out, I can see it getting more popular, hence prices will drop. Give it 3 months I reckon the card you want, will have dropped in price too.
