I should think that their is an extremely simple solution to this, and im sure i will end up regretting posting this, but on Source, y is it sometimes half of the surfaces and buildings appear florescent purple?

If this is florescent purple and black squares, the map overlay has not been apllied properly. This is to say the sliver mapping that is apllied to the basic contour map layout.
Just delete the Particular map in your cache and re-download.
