Postby La Chavvy on Mon Apr 04, 2005 11:25 am

Apparently this came out today, and I've seem some test done with this processor and apparently its amazing, well it looks it, but I cant find it anywhere in the shops considering it was launched today :(

Also when is the 6800 Ultra 512 mb version coming out? does anyone know a release date for this product?

You wont find ne Venice Core AMD's for a while yet, most proabbaly only in America, and even when it is realeased here u wont find it in the shops , even online shops the first day. Mainly Computer Manufactures like Dell, Tiny and Alienware will get the first 100,000 CPU's.

Leave it a week or two before you start seeing Venice Cores on Ebuyer and Overclokers.

And with the 512mb 6800 i think i rember that it was comming out 3/4 of this year or early 4/4. Tbh i wouldnt think it would be

Tbh I wouldn't get ur hopes up too much about the 512mb batch of cards.

Their not due out for quite some time yet. And the ones that are doing the rounds at the moment are only for "demo" purposes and are in no way obtainable through any shops at the moment.

And when they are available, be prepared to wait MONTHS unless you're at the front of someones pre-order que, cos it took me 3 months before I finally got my 6800 ultra from scan, and I was one of the first people to pre-order it  .

I'm happy with my Fx53 for the moment, so i'm in no hurry to get that upgraded for a while yet. Although i'm thinking of getting a new motherboard and some more ram. But i'll see what kinda deal I can sort with santa  .

AMD have a FAB in Dresden, Germany, so Euroland recieve AMD cpus just the same, not like GFX cards where they are primarily made in US.
Large OEM builders already have excess numbers of CPUs, and they will always use up old stock before ordering new stuff (if you hadn't noticed, most OEM builders were still using PC2700 ram a while back because they had ordered so much) (note, Dell do not sell AMD systems  )

Also, when the Venice cores are released, unlikely OEM builders will order them IF older and cheaper products are still available. The venice core doesn't actually offer much to the average consumer, only to enthusiasts (high(er) OCability, able to run 4 double sided modules @ PC3200 etc...)

That's where I got my BFG 6800GT from :)

Looks like the Yanks got it today, we'll probably get it in a months time.
