download caps

Postby Dino on Tue Apr 05, 2005 10:00 pm

Lo all,

i got a download cap starting in may and was wondering how much of the cap will CS use.

if CS uses alot of the cap, have you got recommendations for other companies without the caps.

Thanks,

[MrM3N]Dino

barring any map downloads, i think about 5-6hrs on source was like 90-120MiB down, not sure on up.

it doesn't take much bandwidth, like 4-6KB/sec

thanks all

i am with BT broadband with the 30GB cap and with the 2M speed.
From reading on their website, if i do go over the cap, apparently if get converted to 150kb/s until the next month.

Just wanted to know cos one of my housemates leaves his computer on 24/7, 7 days a week and he is hardly ever in the house. And i have influenced another housemate to get started but he is worried about the cap etc.

Now back to good old studying

have fun pwning

since there are 3 of you... i'd probably be worried about the cap, but throttling down to 150Kbps doesn't sound too bad.

can you not all chip in and go with an unlimited service or one with bigger caps?

sorry to mention but there is 4 in the house (more bad)

The guy who leaves his computer on 24/7 was first to move into house at begining and without looking around he signed up to Bt for a 12 month contract and he knew about the cap. :( so it was too late

i prefered an unlimited one, but this guy had already signed up so nothing i could have done. (contract ends in October)

If he takes up all the cap then will have to have words with him cos CS shall not stop!! lol

Thanks

This reminds me of an old topic, before Source...

Anyways, what you can do is, since all your pc are connected to the one router then just unplug his one when hes away? and just ooh look at that its fallen out again strange! should he notice

Im on BT capped at 30gb I have seen no indication you can pay extra for uncapped. :(

On another note, I have dowloaded over 55 g/b in the 3 weeks i was home (its my moms house) and they did nothing.

tbh, with bt you never really get above 150 k/s anyway, so why worry?
