I wouldn't hold my breath! current stocks of memory will probably stay at the same price. By the time the price reduction does come into effect the market will probably have rebounded and prices will rise again!

Though i really do hope the prices do fall significantly so that i can upgrade my laptop memory cheaply! :)

Thought it was common knowledge? But anyways check out here >http://www.digitimes.com/bits_chips/a20050125A4015.html, Winbond are back in business and making another splash in the O/C world with UTT (untested beyond rated speed), it's supposed to be the new BH5 (Legendry O/C RAM from back in the day).

I posted on a different thread, about memory prices set to fall.

A short explanation here won't hurt as well.

This is not down to Winbond, allthough they could be a contributing factor, this is an over production from companies in India. These companies have been told that they are over producing, but either due to poor inter-company relations or just stupid management they are carrying on in the same way.

It has been quite widely reported on now for a while, the estimated time when this over production will effect prices is between 3 - 6 months, allthough a certain amount of down pricing has allready started.

I think companies will want to get rid of there stock held quite fast, after all they will want to buy at the cheapest too.
