Gfx problems

Postby ^Brigatisti^ on Sun Apr 17, 2005 2:36 pm

Ok heres the problem.

After fresh install of xp my graphics card(s) don't seem to want to work with drivers.

After loading to xp logo it crashes so I have to load up into VGA/Safe mode and uninstall the drivers. So help plz? :)

(cards = 5500 + 6800 GT nvidia's)

eer, uninstall gfx driver

take out card and start up- if you have onboard vid.

If not uninstall drivers and get the BETA drivers off www.nvidia.com then restart comp and install that driver.

You tried the gfx card in another PC? If it works, that'd rule out a pooped up gfx card.

Tell you later when I find out myself. Just had a major HDD problem that caused xp to stop responding (could not even get into safe mode).

After sorting that out, my display appears to be locked in VGA mode.

You could try going to an earlier restore point. This will load certain files, which are stored on your HDD. It could fix your problem.

Just restore from a point before, when you can remember having the GFX working.

If that does not work try installing the original drivers that came with the card.

If this fails do as Easy Tiger has suggested.

Just thought, there are another couple of points to remember. The nvidia drivers, latest or beta will not work unless your OS is upgraded to a certain level. Second point is that you should go to motherboard manufacturer site, to obtain the correct vid drivers, they either have them on site, or link you to the correct ones for your motherboard and gfx card.

I think little devil might of been tierd when he said obtain the correct vid drivers as i think he ment chipset drivers.

so make sure you have the motherboard chipset drivers installed before you install your graphics card drivers.
