Security Permissions

Postby nevvy on Sun Mar 04, 2012 10:17 am

I recently got an xbox360 (it was freebie- woo!). I've plugged it in and set a few things up, including access to my music on my pc via my network (i'm waiting for games to be delivered). I listened to a few albums last night and all seemed fine.

This morning winamp has been unable to open any files in my music folder, it has a padlock symbol on it. I've googled this and changed the permissions so administrators on my pc have full access (my account is an admin account). However, the padlock is still there and i am still unable to open my files. How can i take control of my folder again? I appear to be unable to change permissions.

I'm going to try playing with some xbox settings to see if i can change anything from there. i think i'm missing something simple...

Have you tried changing the permissions on the folder to everyone having read access? Does that change anything

it wont allow me to change the security settings on certain files and this appears to across my documents folder (i have one directory on one drive with all of my music, images, videos etc. in it).

I get an "access is denied" error on most of the files.

Edit Managed to fix it by sharing the folder again. Still not sure what the issue was, but its fixed. I dont understand why i cant access a file on my computer when im listed as having all possible permissions :S
