Windows installer and input issues.

So i've decided to wipe my Hard drives since it's far easier and effective than going through them bit by bit and organising/deleting things. Problem is, when i boot from my Windows CD, i get no mouse or keyboard input despite my drivers being up-to-date. Strangely pressing any key while the screen is up results in a temporary lighting up of my numb lock light. Any solutions for me?

Time for the silly question:

Are they plugged in
Are they recognised in device manager
Do they work in safemode?

If all the above is yes, try an older drive the latest might not work due to a bug.

Did they work before?
Do you remember the drivers you used then?

Do you have access to another windows machine you can test them on

Okay so that lot should keep you busy ;)

Make sure they aren't plugged into a USB3 port.

From my knowledge usb 3 is backwards compatible with usb 2 so that shouldn't make a difference

It seems to depend on the USB3 chipset. I had similar problems myself.

i have this problem all the time, Is your keyboard/mouse a "Gaming keyboard/mouse" or does it have any special functions like macros etc..

The only way i can get round this problem is by using a bog standard keyboard with no special features no nothing, literally a £2 keyboard from like tesco's
