Swings and roundabouts really, and you have to look at how far you wish to go with the cooling, and is it worth the money to you to get the most out of the PC.

1/ Do it yourself, can be a steep learning curve, and if something were to go wrong, you only have yourself to blame, works out cheaper for a good system.

2/ Ready built/kit. All instructions provided, failure of the kit in any way and you can get on to the manufacturer.

Personally I would just cool the 2 hottest things down, 3 if you include the PSU. CPU and Graphics card.

Out of interest and if I had the money to waste, I would create my own system, but that would of course be a lengthy process, since I would calculate all flow rates, heat transfers for the theoretical max of each component, and work out the best flow path for the parts used. A chang of PC case, not a stock case, since the idea is to get heat away from the parts as quickly and efficiently as possible, whereas a PC case is just not efficient at this in its standard format.

Did you know they even do nitrogen and dry ice blocks these days for cooling. lol

p.s. don't use water, I prefer the term liquid cooling for a good reason. water can lead to formations of algae and other contaminants.

XSPC X20 750 Bay \ pump or D5 Bay \ pump
XSPC RayStorm CPU WaterBlock (Intel)
XSPC Razor 7970 GPU Waterblock (Raystorm Style)
XSPC Universal Memory Waterblock and RAM Spreaders
Mayhems Pastel - Blueberry Blue Coolant 1L or Mayhems X1 UV Blue Premixed Watercooling Fluid 1L

Well, I guess it depends on your knowledge/level of confidence to pick the parts yourself. A kit (most of them anyway) have everything you need that is tested so that it works together, in the right size, etc.
Also make sure that the coolant mix is compatible with your components/tubing. They sometimes react with certain materials.
Here are 2 more links to watercooling guides that also go in the parts a bit:
http://linustechtips.com/main/forum/com ... s-to-start
http://linustechtips.com/main/forum/com ... -basic-q-a
They also have a dedicated watercooling section in the forum where you can ask for advice. Another well known forum is http://forum.overclock3d.net/
