BT VOYGER 205 ROUTER

Postby KAL-EL on Sun Jun 05, 2005 3:30 pm

Right im at a loss with this now, ive spent hours & hours on this been all over the Net looking and tring new soultions.

The Problem is, im on BT 2mb, and they gave me a Voyger 205 router, works fine for the net, but when i load any game and click refresh servers, it starts to load servers up then my connection drops, ie i have to turn router off for 10sec and turn it back on.

This happens on every game in CS:S i play all the FPS games, MOHAA, COD, SOF2, BF1942, BFV etc, and they all freeze up when trying to load up servers.

Ive tried the lot, turned off all my firewalls and internet security, ive turned the firewall of in the router, ive updated the firmware on the router.

Ive spoke to BT, but because i can get on the net etc they say theres no problem with the modem, which is true to some point.

ive tried the modem via USB, powered hub USB, and through ethernet cable, still makes no difference, im pulling my hair out as to why it drops connection while loading servers up??

Firewalls are turned off, and when on ive allowed the programes to access the internet.

Has any1 come across this problem or know a soultion to this??

cheers all

it may be the modem, if the upsteam and downstream power lvls or the downstream snr signal are wrong then the modem will just crash and reset ask bt to send an engineer out to look at it

KAL if it still plays up on your freinds modem then phone BT and ask them to do a line check and dont let them fob you off with excuses as it can be done on the spot...it might be that you wont be able to have 2 meg broadband as your line cant coupe with it..

Ask BT to turn up the "gain" on your line. They'll know what it means, and as gand says, don't let them fob you off!!
