I'm not sure if this will ever get off the ground but it's certainly an interesting idea and has an amazing look. I've been bored with traditional PC design for a long time but this has got the old juices flowing again.

The main thing is of course the support but if they could at least get GPU manufacturers interested in it then it has a chance of taking off.

It looks nice but since everything in a PC can already be replaced it will mainly become an expensive gimmick limiting your options. :P

True but many people won't ever crack the side of a case for any reason. If it runs quiet and cool it could move into the main living room and become a rather snazzy Steam box among other things.

I have some games that I'd rather play from the couch and the next gen consoles don't really interest me due to their stunning mediocrity but a single PC with the right cables could fit in nicely.

there's tons of decent looking SFF's out there these days for the living room. there's also cool stuff like http://www.scan.co.uk/3xs/configurator/3xs-swordfish around and available now (contains 2 pc's, 1 for gaming and one for streaming/web browsing/etc.) ;)
i'd hate to be so tied to a manufacturer, no matter how good it looks (i mean, check mac out!). admittedly, it is stunning looking and a decent idea, but, besides not having to earth yourself when switching components, pc's are pretty plug and play as it is.

Modular PC's have been around for ages in one form or another but I always felt it was a shame it never took off more. Steam boxes have taken 3 years to actually hit the market so who knows? I certainly like the idea as I prefer more compact computers but they can be a bit of a pain to work with.

Just chiming in to say I'm still delighted with my NUC :)

Plays TF2 just fine at 1080p with high settings but I haven't tried anything too demanding yet.

This reminds me of the modular hi-fi units, which never really took off either and ended with manufacturers making the cases look like they were modular.

If you want something for the living-room why not design something based on what is in your room right now.
