On gaming laptops all I can offer is a catch I ran into on my sort of gaming laptop which has a dedicated 2gb for games and a regular Intel for everything else. A lot of laptops now don't have the traditional easy access to the battery and as this is often on a shorter warranty and is the most likely part to fail first can be a pain to replace. Mine needed a partial dismantle to get at and of course the official suppliers listed by the manufacturer for spares were trying to gouge with IIRC a 200% price on what was just a standard battery type. With laptops the battery and associated warranty are always areas to research before buying as after a year the battery performance drops off fairly sharply.
I just did it myself but I used to work at an insurance company repair centre so I've still got all the right tools and hundreds of repairs experience with the fiddly PITA things.
