Processor- Amd 4200+ 64 bit dual core
or AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego Core (64 bit) Socket 939, 1MB L2 Cache

£50 difference ~.~ but the 1 with AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego Core (64 bit) Socket 939, 1MB L2 Cache with a nicer case XD, but still help me choose which CPU ^o^ =D~~

It might be best if you post the actual prices and the rest of the PC it's going to be put into, no point of such powerful components if there's a bottleneck :?

well...

AX2 4200+ has 2 cores each at 2.2GHz and 512KB L2 cache

the SD 4000+ is a single core running @ 2.4GHz and 1MB L2 cache

If you only intend to game the 4000+ might be a better choice since in single operation it is faster.

However, an A64 S939 @ 2.2GHz with 512KB cache is about 3500+ speeds i think, now... difference between 4000+ and 3500+ isn't that great in gaming.

Plus, once games start being coded to utilise the dual core, the AX2 would pwn the 4000+ silly. Windows would be zippier with dual core, plus video encoding will take advantage of it too.

All depends what you need, personally, if you're spending that much, a little more for what will be taken advantage of shouldn't be sniffed at.[/i]

If you can afford it the dual core will be alot better and you wont have to worry about upgrading it to near in the future

For games, the most main factor for FPS is the Graphics cards, for those prices I'd go for a 3500+ , 1Gig of corsair xms memory and a 6800GT. With some decent cooling bought with the extra cash you could overclock that to the equivelent of a 3800+ and a 6800Ultra with ease
