Burnt pixels in TFT

Postby Staceman on Thu Jul 14, 2005 9:36 pm

I have a gathering of burnt out pixels on my screen now which are getting bigger and beginning to annoy me.
Its an expensive monitor (£600) and i dont have the receipt for it (present).

So to the point :

Does anyone know how to fix them?

you can't, however if its within warranty and its pretty bad or a clearly worsening condition, then you should be able to get it replaced

yeah that would be fine, but its gonna cost me a fortune to send it back to the states to get it checked.
At the moment its only a small patch so i wont worry, i did just wonder if there was a way to get them back though :)

Cheers for your help though lucky

Getting it replaced can depend on how many dead/burnt pixels you have as a lot of manufacturers say below 4-5 is acceptable and will not replace it....even when it's a brand new just opened monitor.

Which sucks.

Damned cheek, unless you stipulate in a contract with them to allow this

In the UK they can be held accountable by law, as selling defective goods and can be sued. They must replace these goods within the waranty period, which is 12 months for new items and 3 months for second hand, allthough many people don't know this and a supplier will often try to get away with not adhering to the law.

readin from ur PC World post they sed a 5 pixel patch, but u have 8x5 so thats around 40 dead pixels.

So that is way over, them 40 pixels cud easily be someones head. Think of all the kills you have lost because of this spot !
