DVD drivers

need some help lads. a friend of mine cant get his dvd disc drive to work.
i check the device manager and there doesnt appear to be any dvd drivers.
So can u reccomend any places to obtain drivers. cant tell the make will open up and try to find out

DVD or CD drives do not need specific drivers to work (windows includes them), they are truly plug and play like IDE hard drives, i've never had to install drivers ever.

ensure both IDE cable and molex power cable are working
try using different cables.

Also, make sure the jumper is set correctly, there should be a diagram on the drive itself. On the IDE cable the end connector is for master, and the middle connector is for slave.

I assume you are talking about a DVD ROM here. If so it should work with the Microsoft drivers in the Windows database. Try letting it search for drivers automatically.

Yeah and if he has 2 it WONT work if they are both set to master.

Hmmm Lucky beat me to it....

what os does he use as this was a commen prob with win98 and winme but in xp it is less commen for it to happen.
