VOIP problems in source games

Postby Silent Image on Fri May 13, 2011 8:42 pm

Hey guys, just been running into a problem that has been plaguing me for a while. Whenever I try to use the ingame voice chat in source games the game will freeze temporarily and then go back to normal. Been trying to find a solution to this for a while now by searching around, but I just can't seem to find any threads or articles about this. If I remember correctly there was a patch which introduced a higher quality codec to voice chat in source games (not 100% sure on this) and I believe it started from there. Tested in garrys mod, cs:s, and tf2, and it happens in all of them. I've tried a few things short of reinstalling/updating my audio drivers, and that I REALLY don't want to do.

Please help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

That is true, source games now use the SILK codec.

Not sure why it's causing your problem, though, sorry. :(

Thanks for the reply, however consider this thread closed as the problem has now solved itself... somehow.
