CS:S Stuck Retrieving server info

Postby UK_sniper on Thu Mar 16, 2006 5:52 pm

Yo im proper peeved since the new CS:S update I cant get into any CS:S server. I havent tried DOD yet but im assuming its prob gonna have the same prob..

It just sits there "retrieving server info" and then never loads any further!

any advice would be extremely helpful as steampowered is as helpful as an ant on a bbq...

Cheers

Kev - missing out on valuable woogie head pwning time!

are you able to get in by rejoining?

I noticed after making a new config with diff video settings I sometimes hang mid map load, very annoying, so could be a game setting causing it.

I have this problem about 50% of the time, I just hit Ctrl+Alt+Del/Alt-Tab/the Windows key as much as I can and hope I cna get onto the desktop, then shut it down.

no idea why this happens :S

(p.s. I haven't changed any of my config, cept a bind or two, and I havn't fiddled wiht the gfx settings at all :()

I had exactly the same problem as you and on Tuesday night as well. The way I fixed it was by uninstalling all Valve & CSS stuff from PC, rebooting and reloading all the files etc... time consuming but worked a treat for me and works all fine now

Will try that if the worst comes to the worst. but I've bought stuff off valve such as DOD:S etc... will I have to repay for that??

You won't have to re-purchase anything that is located in your Steam account.

The quote button isn't working, but whoever said check the file integrity with steam, YOU ARE THE MAN.

Had to reinstall a file, WORKS A CHARM. Thanks so much :)
