100 Hz LCD/LED okay for gaming?

Hi!
I will probably buy an Philips 32" LED-TV (32PFL5605H) tomorrow
and now I ask myself what does they really mean with 100 Hz? Is it okay to have a 100 Hz screen while gaming? Would my regular 200-300 FPS drop???

The short specs for it is:

It should be ok for your gaming needs, it's the monitor that does the work anyway.

Basically, if you have a monitor that runs at 60Hz it runs 60fps, which you then unlock by turning off vertical sync. Essentially speaking, you should be able to turn off vertical sync on the tv (although don't quote me on that, I haven't used a tv for gaming before).

Also, it does state that it has 24/25/30/50/60Hz processing, that's more for games consoles I'd imagine as there are certain games for the xbox which you can only play at 60Hz (Halo 3 and Prototype to name but two).

I'd say you'd be alright in getting this tv, it shouldn't effect how your games work, in fact, it sounds as if it should run more games and consoles than most modern tv sets would.

However, get the opinion of some others here as I'm not 100% confident in my explanation as I'm not fully up-to-date with tv technology

don't these current 100 Hz tv's just add some more frames to the 60Hz signal that is inputted? I mean it says in the specs that it can only receive 1080p@60hz and the TV does the converting to 100Hz. Sure the picture looks smoother than on a 60Hz TV-set, but its just the tv multiplying some frames. So it shouldn't affect your gaming compared to a "normal" lcd display.

Gaming mode usually just lowers the input lag of the device, at least it does so on my 40" Samsung.

aye puma it only takes 60hz input and makes up other frames to boost it to 100 120 ect
