Iphone 4 too 3gs

Does anyone know if there a reason to why my iphone 4 wont connect to a 3gs to play games against ?

Not sure why Dean my iphone 4 for instant with umk 3 can connect with my ipod touch 3rd gen for multiplayer. It could be firmware of the 3gs or iphone 4.
