USB sound cards - would this work?

Postby Kaelan002 on Sun Feb 10, 2013 1:47 pm

Thinking about getting a USB sound card, I have a laptop and the on board audio jacks are starting to produce quite a bit of noise.

Would it work to run standard audio through the "Default audio device" - the on board jacks, and then have mumble output to a separate "audio device", the sound card? I can't see any reason this wouldn't work, but has anyone tried it?

Also can anyone recommend a decent cheap card? Thoughts on this?

One with digital optical out would be even better, would be hooking it into a sound system, but am yet to find one. Help?

It is possible on Windows 7 at least, you simply should set Mumble to use the USB card instead of the onboard. :)
