John Lithgow is the bad guy in the 4th series :D

Going to be immense.

Well I'll explain. See the first 2 where almost directly based on the books. Hence, what with the story being written by someone who can write, it was good. Third season they diverged from the books with a new plot.

I watched seasons 1 and 2, but didn't get grabbed by season 3 on FX. A few weeks ago, with about 6 episodes sitting unwatched on my Sky+, I deleted the lot and cancelled the series link recording. Given what I've read here, I made the right decision.

Maybe, at least it would have been written well, like the first two seasons. There is a distinct change in the quality in season 3.

Yes, Cult of Moloch and ancient evil spirits sounds like great writing.
And what I've read is that pretty much only link between season 2 and the second novel is Doakes suspecting Dexter, besides that, pretty much re-written. Shockingly, Dexter seems to be one of those rare cases where the adaptation is superior to source material.

all I can say is; Bring on season 4, JOHN LITHGOW as a serial killer, there is no way that can fail. If it does, I will end myself..with a spoon...a wooden one.

I don't know, I read the first book and it had far more colourful descriptions of what was going on and incredibly dark humour.

"The rover batteries have 18kwh of juice. The oxygenator alone uses 44.1kwh per sol. See my problem?
You know what? "Kilowatt-hours per sol" is a pain in the ass to say. I'm gonna invent a new scientific unit name.
One kilowatt-hour per sol is... it can be anything.. um...I suck at this ... oh FK it. I'll call it a "pirate-ninja".
All told, the Big Three need 69.9pn, most of that going to the Oxygenator and Atmospheric regulator."

Hope so. The first 2 seasons were distinctly well written (direct from the books), while the third was notably lacking, in comparison.

Yeah seen s4ep1, looking forward to the rest!
Hopefully it picks up a little better as season 3 was a bit of a let down, but only in comparison to the high standards that the first season set in particular.

My friend being the loving soul he is let me borrow season 1 and it took me a good 5-6 episodes to get really into it, this the same for anyone else?

I might borrow season 2 as season 1 ended rather brilliantly.

Dexter season 4 is brilliant!
Has been a much better season than 2 & 3.
Plenty of tension, a great plot, and THE best villian in John Lithgow.
Right up there matching season 1 in my opinion (really hoping it ends well now, otherwise I'll be eating those words).
