What have you just READ?

Talk about films, television programs or a good read you'd like to share.

But I just read something bout bloodsucking fiends, sounds great!

Read some of the Amber series, honestly not impressed at all. currently reading The Commander (by Meir Pa'il), speaks of issues in military leadership. not a page goes by without the author praising himself for his past actions, but since i have to read it...

Treaure Islands by Nicholas Shaxson - It's all about offshore banking, the oft ignored problems of tax evasion and secrecy jurisdictions. It's a great read on a complicated subject and it'll make your blood boil with anger in places.

I just finished it - really rounds out the tv series and I guarantee you'll be scrabbling to grab the rest after finishing that one. :)

I'm currently reading Catch-22 by Joseph Heller, but I just finished reading The Trial by Franz Kafka. Both are good. The Trial gets a bit worse at the end but is a great book nonetheless.

Timequake by Kurt Vonnegut (not very good)

and

The Forever War by John Haldeman.
- It's a sci-fi novel about soldiers sent to fight on planets so far away and sent there at such great speed that relativistic time dilation occurs. A tour that feels like 8 months subjectively becomes 15 years away from Earth. So it's half standard military sci-fi and half about the dislocation and culture shock felt by returning soldiers to a home that has changed while they were away. It's a great big allegory for the Vietnam veteran's experience. Pretty good and it's not often I tear through a book in 4 days.

Now starting on A Dance With Dragons. (It's really here! In my hands after 6 years!)
