"This Thing of Darkness," by Harry Thompson was the last book I finished, my tutor reccommended it to me as a reference for the project I was doing, enjoyed it very much!

Recently went through the HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy Series (which everyone should read).
Thud by Terry Pratchett incredibly funny.
Then i was presented with the tome Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand and i have to say with this is the worst book and i have ever read and the primary reason why Philosophers should never write fiction... awful, awful book.
So I've gone onto something lighter, Charlie Brooker's Dawn of the Dumb. Really really funny collection of his articles from his G2 and Screen burn column in the Guardian. I recommend to everyone! :)

The Warlord of the Air by Michael Moorcock. Good easy sci-fi read, and references one of the greatest sci-fi writers ever- H.G. Wells!
Before that made my way through some John Wyndhams and a good number of Asimovs.
Starting the Elric novels by Moorcock now.
*Going through a classic sci-fi phase (well over a years worth) to balance my fantasy obsession.

Nah. Philosophers can write some fine fiction; Rand just had a particularly crappy & selfish philosophy.

Last book was "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest", last book of Millenium trilogy, by Stieg Larsson.
I also recommend Charles Bukowski
"Post Office", "Factotum", "Women", "Ham On Rye", "Barfly", "Hollywood", "Pulp".
Boris Vian
"I spit on your graves" and "The foam of the daze"
and finally Albert Camus
    "The stranger"

Going postal was probably my favourite Terry Pratchett book, it's so fun to read, as with most of his work.

I've nearly finished Bill Bryson's "Down Under", his book about Australia. It's bloody funny, and has a lot of useful informatioon in it too.

Next I'm gonna read "Consider Phlebas" by Iain Banks.

It depends how much you like books and how much money you have. I've bought all my books recently, but that's because I like to own books, and I had some gift vouchers to spend at work (33% off of books). I used to go to the library for books because it's cheaper, although I don't like feeling like I have to finish reading a book within a certain timescale.

I buy my books, but it takes a lot of looking around for bargains. a store 3 minutes walk just opened up a second floor, so packed of books they actually had to place them one behind the other on the shelves. theyre also cheap because most of them are second hand. i dont like libraries (besides for studying) because i cant let go of my books :>

Currently reading Book 3 of the Farseer Trilogy (Assassin's Quest) by Robin Hobb. Heartily recommended to anyone who likes a good fantasy type book, the trilogy is very good :)

some from ebay but mostly amazon - the delivery is a standard £2.75 regardless of book size and most books can be bought second hand for 1p

but i also love scouring second hand book stores too
