I've just read:
Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, not to shabby and has some rather quirky giggle worthy moments in.
The Hellbound Heart, a good short novella full of guts, lust and mystert. (It's the book in which Hellraiser was adapted from)
Books of Blood (Vol 1 -3) Like most anthology's there stories worth reading and some that aren't but mostly good.

I've just read:
Starship troopers by Robert Heinlein
- The power suits are like a 12 year old's dream, the politics are kinda fascist. Somehow I still enjoyed it.
A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole
- Possibly one of the most disgusting protagonists in any book I've read and it's funny as hell
Nature Cure by Richard Mabey
- More nature writing and slightly purple prose. I love this kind of mish mash of literary critique, psychogeography, science and prose poetry.

Charles Bronsons autobiography....it was on the bookshelf when I got here, left by a previous gap year person. Guy sounds like he was a complete wanker. I can't stand "jack the lad" types, where people think they're just being funny. i.e. my GCSE english teacher who loved the disruptive types because she thought they were funny.

Recently read:
Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson
-Starts out as an awesome effort to drive cyber-punk way over the top. The main character is "Hiro Protagonist" - samurai swordsman, professional hacker and high speed pizza delivery guy for the Mafia.

It turns into a few boring walls of text of pseudo-history and flakey psychology towards the end but it was still highly enjoyable.
A Tranquil Star by Primo Levi
- A collection of short stories by a fairly famous Jewish Italian author (mostly famous for his holocaust novels). My favourite story from the collection,
Bear Meat, is available online here:

Memories of Ice by Steven Erikson and
Seasons of Life by Foster & Kreitzmann

terrific novel, highly recommended. very very relevant despite being written in 1933.

I agree, very good read. If you like that kind of stuff I would also recomend 1984 (obviously...) and Fahrenheit 451 (I particularly recomend this

).

I want to recommend this book:
Ken Follet - Pillars of the Earth.
Its from medieval time basically most happends through the fight for power of England and the main charachter is a mason who wants to fullfill his dream to build a chathedral.
Its a must read if you are into reading books.
I have read all of Wilbur Smiths books and they are a series of books that I do recommend.
