So this series begins this coming week. 17th of April in the US. 18th of April for the UK (on Sky Atlantica).

Just wondering if anyone else is as pumped for it as I am. I've read maybe about the first 2/3 books from the Song of Ice and Fire series but haven't had as much time to read recently. I thought they were great though. Similar in scale to the Wheel of Time series but at times they felt a bit more modern and adult.

so i thought this 1st episode was pretty good all in all. Some scenes definitely looked a bit budget (drogo daenerys wedding, finding the d-wolf pups which miraculosuly changed size mid scene) but other scenes were particularly well done (white-walkers etc).
much more boobage than expected.
Hopeful for rest of series

I thought it was quite good. I really don't remember the books too well but it seems like they covered the important bits.

They seem to have some fairly good talent in there. Sean Bean is always pretty good. The guy they've got playing Tyrion really seemed to nail it well and from what I remember he is a great character. Not sure what to make of the rest of the Lannisters or the kid actors yet though.

I'll definitely be continuing with the series, especially since they've already renewed for a second :D. They've stayed pretty true the book so far, and have gotten away without cutting too much out. I think it's going be a pretty faithful adaption - even George R R Martin is happy with it.

Peter Dinklage was perfect as Tyrion, and quite a few of the other characters were spot on too. I'm not sure yet about Cersei or Catelyn yet though.

I've seen the first two episodes now. I won't say too much because I haven't read the books, and don't want to embarrass myself too much.

I'm really liking it so far, but the pacing seems alittle off to me.

Alot of time is being spent showing us how detestable the King's family is, yet I have no real grasp of the bigger picture - of the world they're in.

But yes, I'd recommend everyone start watching this.

Also, I realy like "The Dwarf" at the moment, though I'm still not sure if I should or not.

Seen the second episode myself now. Forgot how much I hated Sansa. The child actors might actually not be that terrible which is a plus since they are in so much of the story.

Watching this series just makes me want to jump back into the books though. I really need to get caught up with them.

sniper as to your spoiler, books wld def be worth a read if ur keen. I imagine it will be harder to get the same feel for it in only two episodes. I thought that this 2nd ep was great actually (sansa can't act) but otherwise close to the books, enjoyed it

Oh, so very much this. I remember now how much I despised both Sansa and Joffrey. Tyrion's interaction with him in the stables had me chuckling :D

He's been one of my favourite characters from book one. The Lannisters are a horrible lot, but there's something about Tyrion I really like.

I know they've skipped a few bits and pieces, but overall they've done well to pack in the level of detail they have. I'mma have to go back and reread the books to remember anything that was missed, I think.

Agreed, that was a sad moment. Also, Arya chasing off Nymeria was very sad :(

Having said that, I don't think the series has focused a huge amount on the Direwolves - we've had glimpses of them, and obviously this episode has a lot of Nymeria in it (and Summer), but they've haven't made as big of a thing of them as I thought they would.

Also, why haven't we even seen Rickon yet? We've had Rob mention him, but I'm surprised there's not been an onscreen appearance. Same goes for Theon, he's been onscreen and had some dialogue, but if you didn't already know who he was, you'd have to wonder what he was doing with the Starks.

Haven't read the books but really enjoying the series so far. My mate was an extra in it so I've been keeping an eye out for him. No sign yet.
