Marvels Daredevil (Netflix)

Postby Silkie on Wed Apr 15, 2015 4:33 pm

A Netflix commissioned series based on Marvels blind superhero Daredevil was added recently and I've been watching through it.

It's a mixed bag with solid to good casting and a focus on fight scenes and plot rather than special effects with what is pretty much Daredevil Year One and the introduction of the Kingpin and the Hand clan. The action is quite brutal compared to the Marvel films but keeps the plot similar to the comic books and had grown on me rather than gotten an instant hook.

I have a few episodes left to watch but it has a lot of potential.

I have been watching this the past week and it has been pretty good, I also heard something about a new film being recorded with the current cast.
I like the more realistic take on the fighting like in the Raid films, it actually makes the hero look human.

I've had a couple of people at work watch it and give it good reviews, I think I am still too scarred from the Ben Affleck movie to give it a go just yet!

Security hit the nail on the head about it as it has a very realistic attitude to the consequences of the violence and how very human Matt Murdoch is. It out darks the Dark Knight at times.

Half way through it myself at the moment, it hasn't got a trace of Affleck :)
This is my sandvich. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My sandvich is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my sandvich is useless. Without my sandvich, I am useless. I must eat my sandvich true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy, who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will. Before lunch I swear this creed: my sandvich and myself are defenders of my country, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but sandvich. Om nom.

Finished it.

Hooked.

The final showdown with The Kingpin Wilson Fisk was excellent and the way he was shown to be as driven as Murdoch in his own way makes for a quality modern villain. It's full of nice Easter eggs for fans and even has Christos Cage attached to the writing staff who has penned some great comics.

Started these yesterday and binged through 5 episodes. Needless to say I am enjoying it so far and glad it is faraway from Affleck! Very dark and well shot.

Really enjoyed this, it almost makes Arrow & Flash seem like kids shows in comparison.

It's official that it's getting a second season, too.

Finished this last night, excellent! Completely blew away all doubts I had about it.

However, I realised Kingpin is played by Private Pile from Full Metal Jacket and now that's all I can see!

Season 2 is set to introduce the Punisher played by Jon Bernthal who can do rugged but seems a bit on the short side to be Frank. No I will not apologise for that.

Want to know what the fuss is about? Watch this.

In related news this month Netflix release Jessica Jones which is a sister show that should cross over and join Daredevil if all goes as planned. They have place holders for Luke Cage and Iron Fist series and The Defenders which will join all the characters together.

Well Netflix got a months fee last night and it's worth it just for the pleasure of Daredevil season 2. The Punisher is truly menacing and the action is as great as the first season.

I binge watched it and was well pleased. The action is great and it continues the Daredevil mythology while opening up the option of a Punisher series along the way with Jon Bernthal doing a great job as a Brutal Frank Castle. Don't be put off by Frank going to prison as it just get's better and gorier from there.

Criminal scum need to start heading for hills as Netflix confirm the Punisher spin-off. Uncork the Kensington gore.
