Marvels Jessica Jones [Netflix]

Available from today and so far it seems pretty good with the early introduction of another Marvel hero and a certain well known Scots character actor as the villain.

This is part of a series of shows that started with the excellent Daredevil and will join hopefully in The Defenders.

I'm up to episode 4 and enjoying it so far. I haven't read JJ before and no nothing of her story so I'm kind of in the dark. Events on what happened in the Avengers keep getting a mention in the background as well so I expect some sort of crossover in the future.

It's a different pace to Daredevil and suffers from a few flaws but I do really like some of the casting so I'm sticking with it. There's a lot more sex than violence which really only makes sense as Kilgrave is a very different villain to Wilson Fisk and part of his menace is his obsession with Jessica.

Other than Luke Cage a few other characters which they may do more with are already there in the form of Patsy Walker who in the comics became Hellcat and Will Simpson who with a small change of name was Nuke. The attack on Jeryn Hogarth is hard to watch and proof that although the show is less violent than Daredevil still has a hard edge to it.

This was very good overall, not as good as Daredevil (it felt like it should have been closer to 10 episodes than 13, and the supporting characters and sub-plots were quite hit & miss), but certainly worth the watch.

I agree although I'm glad they went for something with a feel all of it's own rather than just make a copy of Daredevil.

As far as I can see their idea is a Luke Cage series, then Iron Fist and join up all of them in The Defenders.

I finished watching it last week. I really enjoyed it. Tennant stole the show for me. I'm ploughing through Daredevil at the moment.
