Ganguly is retiring before the series too.

India look in rather good form regardless though. Will be a tough series for England I feel.

they always step it up for the australians.

but i do think that england will struggle, the middle order isnt solid enough to get the 400/500 that england need.

India's top 7, even without ganguly is the best batting line-up in world cricket. They have always had a dodgy pace attack, but that new lad with the long hair - don't know his name - looks amazing, quick, swings it, gets reverse just what india needs. England could really do with simon jones on this tour. someone who will reverse it, bowl consistantly, with pace.

Tendulkar is missing first 3 games, another relief for England....
Are India taking this series seriously? :|

They said he was just being rested; everyone takes Australia touring their country more seriously than England, so it's no surprise he wasn't rested in the current series really.

However if they do win this series they may relax a bit against us and let us in. That's my hope anyway :P

yay! australia lost to india!

its not surprising if you look at their team. a complete lack of bowling cost them. they didnt play a specialist spinner until the last game. johnson, clark and lee make a decent pace attack and watson is ok (just) as a 5th bowler but they had no support. in india you need one quality spinner (ideally two) to bowl teams out. cameron white bowls big juicy pies, clarke is a decent occasional bowler, no more.

this highlights the massive hole in their team left by warne and mcgrath. they would have had a decent chance with those two, even playing only 4 bowlers. it also shows how much gilchrist added, by being such a good batsmen he gave them great balance. the aussie team in india had lots of bits and pieces players (white, watson etc) instead of specialists.

hopefully india are too tired to beat england now...

The passion is amazing for cricket there, they live and breath it. im pleased they won the series. are they top of the test rankings now? I would love to go out there for a series, and watch a few test matches, it would be amazing.

Warne wont be replaced. Magill never seemed to step it up when he played, don't know if he is still around now though. That aussie spinner who took 8for in the last test seemed pretty mediocre.
Mcgrath's consistancy is just amazing, and australia will miss the stability and reliability he gave them.
Ponting must be on his way out now? are australia breeding a new leader, I really havent been following it. Katich perhaps?

Roll on the ashes lads :D

Michael Clarke will be the next aussie captain.

you're right about ponting, great player who i expect to retire after the ashes, same with hayden. they'll be coming back for revenge.

that right shotz, warne cannot be replaced, warne was one of them players who had love for the game, nd really wanted to play, these days players only play for the money, a perfect example would be pakistan cricket team, one of there best player mohammed yousuf who had the most test 100 last season has now joined ICL

South Africa have beaten a very poor bangladesh side

The bangladeshys have been unfortunate as they have lost some key players to the ICL

First Innings

SA: 441-9 (dec) Smith - 157, Amla - 112

BAN: 153 all out - follow on, 159 all out

Result: South Africa Win by An innings and 129 runs

England actually want to loose?

Bowling short constantly to sehwag who is battering everything for 4's and 6's. It's such a good game though. I think 387 is easily do-able for india.

Well thankfully we got Sehwag out before the close of play.
It will certainly be an enthralling day's play tomorrow, I know I'll be getting up early to watch it.

same here cowboy, i'll be in bed straight after top gear!

india need 2.8ish per over (feel free to check my arithmetic 90 overs, 250ish to win). in a one day game 250 in 90 overs would be a breeze but the final day of a test match always gets the bum twitching. I dont think india will win the game, i think its too much. India's best chance is if dravid gets out early and tendulkar/laxman/gambir but on a a steady score through the morning, leaving yuvraj and dhoni to finish the chase after tea. I'm sure if it does get tight then england can just slow the over rate down...

anyway, monty is gonna spin england to victory.

Note: if england do win, then they will be 1 up in a 2 match series. Hopefully it will rain for all 5 days of the next match! :P

This test match has been lots of big partnerships and then lots of quick wickets.

If england can get dravid quickly in the morning, I think we can get sachin and laxman and gambir. Should be awesome

Well I'm knackered from being up at 4am to watch it; and we lost.

Tendulkar's unbeaten century was really genius and he'll take all the plaudits, although really it was Sehwag that made it all possible yesterday. Yuvraj also played an excellent supporting innings, I think the crowd would've lynched him if he hadn't let Sachin have his century though!

One other point to note is that every cloud has a silver lining: Australia will lose their test ranking top spot when the rankings are next done :P

India were awesome. England's batting held up, mainly thanks to Strauss, the bowling bar flintoff and swann was very lackluster. Watching sachin bat, the guy is amazing, has so much time just to flick it off his hip and position the spinners.

Enjoy watching him bat alot!
