I used to do it as my final burn on the way home then turn of down the little dirt track onto drove road to get down to my house.

Mile Oak Road is about 5-10 minutes walk from my house! W00p for working local!

if you had disk brakes on a road bike you would end up going over the handlebars so fast you'd probably smash your skull open. going down hills you can get up to around 30 mph (well according to tom-tom anyway) its really hard with disk brakes to brake slowly, and going that fast you'd either skid out with the back wheel, or go straight over with the front brake.

disc brakes also add a lot of un-necessary weight to the bike, which really matters on a road bike

Yeah was gonna say. They are only really required on fast downhill bikes are very reassuring. Not very necessary on a road bike.

^ Yeah I have this too, although once I've moved I'm gonna buy a road bike so I can get to work super quick.

It's a real arse cycling a mountain bike to work.
