2010 Grand National

Postby paddyohale on Sat Apr 10, 2010 2:19 pm

Anyone having a flutter? Had it on the TV in the background and the jockey from one of the favourites for the National, Ruby Walsh (due to ride on Big Fella Thanks), fell in a warm-up race and had a following horse trample over his shoulder, so he won't be in the National.

Odds for pretty much all the horses are still changing, as usual, but are you one of the "once-a-year" people who ignores such things as odds, form, jockey, trainer, handicaps - and simply plonks their money on the one with the pretty colours or the fancy name? :P

If so, who are you backing this year? If you are a more seasoned horse racing enthusiast, and you've been following the form guides, who gets your backing?

Pad.

As my family always has a small bet on this race (only £1 per person on an each-way bet), my choice this year goes to Snowy Morning (odds in the morning papers were from 14/1 to 16/1). No reason for picking him apart from he was the top pick from one of the tipsters in the newspaper I read :P.

I've been lucky the past couple of so years with the National. I'm not that big a gambler, but I always make a bet on the national as it is once a syear so I may as well go for it.
This year I've put an each way bet on Comply Or Die and Backstage. Also placed a bet on Backstage to win the National. So f he does, I'll be quids in.
Best of luck to anyone else who is betting on it
