It looks like a beautiful game – I play a game called Imperial Glory which is class and deals with the same subject matter as this game. Adv is u can use ships and armies in the game

Footage of the Teutonic campaign. Looks sweet, but I kinda was hoping to see if they would've had Hakkapelittas as a new unit. That would've owned so much.

yeh I wanted to pwn the Turks with Polish winged cavalry like at that defining moment in history when Christian Europe was at risk by the Turks – youtube and then wikipedia – the siege of Vienna – absolutely fascinating!

Some of the best moments I've had on the PC came from playing RTW online. There was something really gratifying about lining up your phalanxes against some random guy and watching his horsemen crumble under the foot of Greece!

Omg what r u on about c8la! I played rome and there were no Spartans in it ffs I want to be Spartaaaaa!

This is madness. 

How do I be Spartans In rome teach me ur ways!

Well i've got the game and i think its fantastic, definatley a moneys worth expansion. Played a bit as everyone so far but atm playing as Antioch on the crusades campaign, theres so many big events like the egyptians taking over jerusalem it really keeps you on your toes.

The only thing im yet to see is the moated forts? Im not sure which campaign theyre in but as ive only played for more than 20 turns in crusades im sure one of the campaigns has them, probably the Britannia capmaign.

The expansion does give endless hours of extra gameplay with plenty of new querks so you wont feel like youre playing the original just with a new faction.

You have to finish the short campain first i think =) I have it an greeks WERE available to me - until i had to re-install windows and lost my save games :cry:

I'm all out of money so I'll have to wait until I get paid next week, although like I said before I'm definitely going to be getting this.

And yeah, Greece was a use-able faction once you'd already completed the campaign once, and the Spartan Hoplites were their best unit

Having just received MII Kingdoms from amazon i hurriedly installed it and attempted to play as Brittannia however I got a message saying that:

The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\sdm.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

Not a clue what that means so could someone please interpret for me and explain how to fix it so I can start playing? Many Thanks.

Present day? Ha, the Greek Fire is as ancient as...as...well, the Greeks themselves. :p

Also, has anyone tried their hand at commanding TWO armies in one battle, as I recall this was featured in Kingdoms?

Aye i had a pop at commanding my main army and my reinforcements in battle but one army was made entirely from offensive siege equipment and archers, doubt i could control two full armies of mixed cavalry, footmen etc.

i could.
strategy games are my forte.
rome total war i was pretty good at just rushing them. keeping them occupied then getting my archers to attack from the woods, and make the suckers run.
and you should know how to use your generals, if you have a very high rank general you can kill a whole section of an army just with him and his henchmen. also, siege equipment sucks bigtime. only juse trebuchets to knock down a wall and then commence the charging through. (cavalry first ofcourse) followed by footmen.

Ok lets whine nao! what dont u like about Total war series ...

I dont like how the game ends when u reach a particulr date - i.e. 1548 or wotever its annoying!!! i want the game to carry on until i deem its over! I know its unrealistic, but they could make the date stop there and let u keep on playing insted of ending the game (especially annoyed me in shogun and original medieval)

Also are there battering rams in medieval 2? I think it would be cool to like use william wallace and batter down Longshankses front door

i never got to that stage, always got too bored.
i love playing the battles, the economy is so basic and fucking unrealistically stupid, that i have never been able to be bothered/understand why one turn my city is earning cash and the next its losing 2k a turn.

Anyway, what id like to say is, The Total War Series definately has ALOT of potential, but until they make it a bit more Civilisation like its going to remain as a potential and never a fully blown amazing strategy game.

also, their ultimate amounts of bias in the civ's that you can play are gay also.

no Turks? excuse me? Greatest Empire that was bigger than roman? HELLO!?!?!

i should be able to ride into battle with my cannon wielding dudes like from AOE2 and have my camels of war. =)

lol A of E started to annoy me cos all the units are the same basically lol - for every faction!
But the storylines were good i learnt a lot about history and it got me interested in it!

HEY! I thought the Turks were a playable faction in this game!

Also could u please give me a COMPLETE list of ALL the factions 'hero' characters for the new expansion 'kingdoms' plz

It only lists some of them like :

Byzantine, England, Scotland, Turkey... Richard, Wallays, Nur El Din Saladin

Does Russia have Alexander Nevsky hero character!!?? ZOMG THAT WOULD BE AWESOME! like recreating the battle of Alexander Nevsky against the Teutonic Order and the Mongols/ Tartars :shock:

Volkan, the Turks are playable in Medieval II, you just have to either destroy them in the campaign or meet the victory conditions before running out of turns. Then you'll unlock all the factions in the game (besides Mongols, Timurids, Aztecs and the Papal States) to play the grand campaign with.

And appleman, I don't know about the rest of the hero characters. I think they're available only for the factions featured in the expansion. Check up an FAQ or something, or just play the game to find out.

This is not true for medieval 2 and kingdoms, you could carry on until year 3000 if you want.

Just beat Americas campaign as Tlaxacans :wink:
