The last time I played, I encountered no zombies, got chased around by a axe wielding lunatic in Elektro for 30 minutes straight (who eventually couldn't catch up to me) and starved to death after finding no food or drink.

So yeah, more zombies and opportunities to not starve to death are welcome! :D

Who gives a crap if the flashlight works during the day. I wish they would stop working on pointless fluff, remove all the unnecessary loot and content and start adding in 200+ zombies per city and random hoards. I'd be happy with just beans, canteen , fire axe and full zombie content.

Lighting has been broken for a long time so this will be nice, the physics aspect will be awesome as well :) lots of nice immersive content! This isn't resident evil so I'm glad they haven't piled in hoards of the placeholder zombies, if you can't survive you'll die even without any interaction with zombies as it is.

I dunno what to think of this, he has been saying he would eventually leave for over a year so its not really news but calling your own game flawed and announcing your leave before its even properly released doesn't sound good, it's not even in beta yet.

He doesn't sound very confident about the game, If its not the right multiplayer game what motivation does he have to continue working on it if any at all :scratch:

Well that sucks, especially for the hefty price tag for an alpha release i know he intended the price to detere those who just want to play the game and not help with improving the game and bug reporting but still.... I wonder what it will mean for the game.

It sounds like he's got quite a big team now and maybe his leadership methods are causing friction? I would say the game will be finished with or without him.

As far as I am aware it is his game, his dream and he had creative right to do it how he wanted too - I understand limits on their engine even if it was tweaked a bit but it does sound crap that he will leave.

I think hes probably just realized that the Dayz he wants to make just aint happening on that shitty engine, I don't think any current engine is capable of making a proper DayZ game on that scale. I can't see them ever having 200 players and 5000 zombies running around with all the crafting , base and other systems they plan to add.

At some point they should just scrap the chernarus map and replace it with something smaller and/or create an urban map like Nether. The map in The Division looks friggin awesome, something like that would be perfect for Dayz

Yet to give it a go but I have found a few servers that do it. So I might give it a go tomorrow and relay my thoughts on it. If I can get on one of the servers because you can only join during the set up phase. If you try and join when a game is in progress, it won't let you

Can confirm that BR is hilariously fun, and can get ridiculously tense. Not only do you have the same issues as in normal DayZ with zombies, other players (who now have even more reason to kill you for survival), and weather mechanics, but you now have a constantly shrinking battlefield, bombs being dropped, hotly contested and very publicly announced, vital supply drops, and much more. Sure, you can team up with people if you can convince them, but in the end you'll have to turn on one another.

It's great fun. I can't recommend it enough. As the eponymous Battle Royale name might give away, It's like The Ship meets S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. With zombies.

Just installed this, hoping to get a few hours in before bed and it is now 3:35am and i still haven't got it running. I keep getting an error "Bad Version, server rejected connection" when trying to join a server on the Dayz Origin and i've tried a few servers on there with no luck. Also got a Wrong CD Key? the game has been purchased through steam so not sure how this has happened? anyone got any suggestions? would be great.

i would download and use http://www.dayzcommander.com/ - it is what i use :) keeps all game file you need updated also you need to install : -

Arma 2 - You need to open this at least once
Arma 2 OA - Same as above
Arma 2 OA Beta patch - nothing to do here
use DayZ Commander to install the mods you want to play I.E Epoch/Origins/Panthera etc.... using this makes it easier to keep the mods uptodate.

DayZ Commander settings:

go to install/update tabs
Pick the mod you want to install
Go to settings
Steam options check both Launch using steam
and Replace original Arma2OA files with Beta so steam works

Game directories
Make sure it points to the correct game files etc

and your good to go :)
