currently 5500 Ly from Sol in my DBX (on my way to Sag A) discovered Exploring is not for everyone but I will stick it out and then get in my Vulture to shoot more baddies.

Vulture crew represent \o/

You should hopefully have a nice cash-in reward by the time you get back. Hope you're scanning your way through too, really bumps up the value when you get decent planets.

oh yes made almost 200 system jumps (scanned nearly all of them with detailed scans on everything worthwhile) 5.5k Ly in is a bad time to find out your not cut out for exploring though lol will be cashing that DBX in as soon as I get back though see you all in about 10 weeks lol. I need to get back as I have bought lifetime pass and want to make the most of the upcoming beta's

I wanted to like the Vulture, but it's just a bit...Well, balls compared to the Cobra or Viper, I find. Bigger weapons don't make for better when you run out of ammo just as quickly.

Now, if Mechwarrior-esque ammo racks that took up cargo space at cost of handling or something were introduced (which has been suggested since freakin' alpha), I'd never fly anything else...

lol ammo? Vulture is best with a full laser loadout because of the ridiculous manoeuvrability. Viper is a close second but hits like a wet paper towel compared to the vulture

If the guns you're using don't go boom or dakka, you're doing it wrong.

As for the Viper? Its speed, smaller profile and maneuverability, along with added versatility of slinging C1s for shredding modules and untanked smaller ships more than make up for the slight damage deficit.

That said, been causing some mayhem in Doomwinders as of late too. Wholly underrated ships and still one of the best available, especially considering how cheap they are to outfit.

Vulture far exceeds the Viper, great shields and twinned with c3 beams (you need to get your power management right though) it is an amazing ship. i can take out ships in less than 10 seconds without any need ot allow the beams to recharge i will show you my load out when i get the chance.

so the beta for 1.4 "CQC" hit the net last night for those eligible. Had a little go and had some great fun a welcome distraction from the exploration role I am playing right now. still amazes me how some people can be so good at what is basically a new mode of the game.

I'd put that down to people being experienced in PvP. Since actively engaging in PvP, my skill at the helm has increased a surprising amount.

yeah i reckon your right i am a proper noob at PvP tbh but like i said 11000Ly from Sol is a lonley place so getting to shoot crap is always a nice break from dark space lol

Had a go in CQC yesterday. CQC is a different skill set to flying in normal space PvP. Enjoyed it a lot. Rusty at first but by the end of my session I was buzzing in and out and around the stations and asteroids with ease. Just need to master the FA off aspect so I can swing around the objects easier.

Boosters.

Boosters boosters boosters.

Can't stress how important boosters are in CQC, go from "what is that shooting my ass, what is it, where is it, why is it always behind me" to "DIE IN A FIRE WHORESON! Watch me fly backwards you mellifluously exploding bastard"

I'm really really really thinking about buying this. So I've actually brought this and really love it. Anyone know of any good tips?

So far I've managed to sort out my key binds, undock, fly to another system and dock. All without killing myself - great start. I could really do with some help on my flight keys, primarily the fact that I look drunk in space due to the mouse control. Is this just a sensitivity issue?

best tip there is for you currently is to get a HOTAS joystick like the THrustmaster T-Flight

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thrustmaster-T- ... B001CXYMFS

once you have that then the best bet is to get yourself the hell out of the start systems or play in solo mode for a short while. the path I took was to take on a couple of missions from the station bulletin boards and do some low level trading to upgrade the ship a little and extend your jump range. I then traded into a hauler and decked it out for trading with plenty of cargo racks (only 18 t I think but better than the 4 you probably have now) if you ccan get a decent jump range your set for some rare trading which is very lucrative. that will do for now but sadly the first few weeks are hard work but worth it. add me on steam if you want to and I can give you whatever advice I can.

once you get a bit of cash then I suggest you have a think about what you want to do, combat, exploration, mining, piracy, smuggling there are loads of options. watch out for the upcoming release of Close Quarter Combat also which is pretty good fun.
