[PS3/360/PC - Action] Remember me

Postby RubbeR on Thu Apr 25, 2013 8:03 pm

This game by Capcom caught my eye, to be released 7 June 2013. It was added to Steam earlier this week.

To me, it looks like Oni meets Assassin's Creed meets Prince of Persia.

Yeah, I'm getting it.

Aye this looks like one to keep an eye on. Will most likely grab this
This is my sandvich. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My sandvich is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my sandvich is useless. Without my sandvich, I am useless. I must eat my sandvich true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy, who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will. Before lunch I swear this creed: my sandvich and myself are defenders of my country, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but sandvich. Om nom.

Reviews are out, and it isnt pretty reading... or at least it is only a decent game not a brilliant game, good in parts but frustrating because of its potential was wasted, good production values but overall pretty mediocre.
It is also suppose to only take 6 hours to beat, a bit short (though I would guess thats a rush through and dont look at the scenery play style).
The combat seemed interesting until the reviewer at GT mentioned how switching targets broke the chain, and if a target died it broke the chain so getting high chains meant needing to use low damage output attacks to hit 'softer' to get the high chain combo payoffs needed for special attacks... very unintuitive.

So by reviewers accounts, a decent if somewhat mediocre game that is pretty short with good production values and some highlights that are exceptionally well done but not done enough.
I think I'll be waiting on the specials to try this one out... Xmas Steam special probably.

Going off the reviews it seems like another mirrors edge, decent idea, terribly executed and barely long enough to escape demo territory. That said, mirrors edge reviews weren't like this. I still want to play this but I've lost 100% of the excitement over it

I'm going to wait until I play it before I decide whether or not it's wasted potential or opening the doors to something new and interesting ;)

Everything I've read suggests it's everything that was expected of it. An engaging-enough game from a small developer who created something highly intelligent and thought-provoking in a good setting, worth playing more for the storyline and tried-and-tested gameplay than for anything groundbreaking and new and revolutionary.

Remember, however, that the same reviewers chastising it for the lack of being groundbreaking and revolutionary are the same reviewers who start salivating in a way that only Pavlov could appreciate at the mere mention of this year's Call of Duty.

The smaller sites and reviewers are praising it for being a well made and solid game, whereas the aforesaid larger sites are crying and griping that it's not managed to cure cancer, baldness and world hunger the day before it's released.

Either way, I'll wait until I play it before I judge it one way or another. Everything I hear so far on the opinions makes me think of this little series called the Legacy of Kain.

I find it funny how people are slating it because it's only around 7 hours (supposedly) of play. Since when was length of a game the be all and end all? Since when was the length of ANYTHING the be all and end all? (No points for the obvious joke)

I'll admit that when Portal 2 came out, I wasn't happy about the fact it was only 8 hours but that wasn't because I felt like the game sucked because of it, I just wanted MORE. Hell, I've thrown 27 hours into that game somehow when there's not even that much time in the game.
