[PC - Space Sim] Star Citizen

Postby sNaKeBiTe on Tue Jul 02, 2013 11:27 am

Star Citizen is an upcoming Space Simulation for PC.

It was originally on Kickstarter with a goal of $500.000. At the End of the Kickstarter campaign the game achieved the record for highest crowd-funded game project with over $4.2 million. Now it has just passed the $12 million mark and there is already a lot of hype around this game. The release date is set to be in late 2014.

The game will feature co-op and mmo aspects, as well as a singleplayer campaign. There will be flight simulation, combat, mining and trading. It will also feature support for occulus rift.

One the website (https://robertsspaceindustries.com/) you can buy different ships and packages with certain bonuses that won't be available later on, like the lifetime insurance. These offers expire on July 6th.

Did anybody here preorder some of these packages or back the kickstarter? It looks pretty good, but I think i'll wait until the first reviews of the final game come in.

I was tempted to pre-order but lan comes before this, so lan won the wallet lol
This is my sandvich. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My sandvich is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my sandvich is useless. Without my sandvich, I am useless. I must eat my sandvich true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy, who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will. Before lunch I swear this creed: my sandvich and myself are defenders of my country, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but sandvich. Om nom.

No offence to this game but I helped the Elite Dangerous kickstarter so I'm looking forward to that. I'm sure this will be good though. Its looking good so far.

I backed this when it was on Kickstarter and have been looking at the progress eagerly.

Oh and I recently received my metal plated Colonel card and my brother did as well together with his Squadron 42 t-shirt so there shipping those already.

I am a bit bummed out I missed the live stream but I was enjoying myself at Graspop... :P

Same, but I just paid lowest funding that offers the full game. I'm not really bothered about in-game bonuses or collector's merchandise that typically comes with these kinds of kickstarters. The game itself though looks & promises to be incredible.

I bought the freelancer pack a week or two ago. If you are going to spend more than you would for a normal game on this, you should probably think of it more as a donation to fund this type of game than getting your money's worth in ships/items.
Hopefully this is worth it, I didn't play freelancer but when I was much younger I would play the elite games a lot and then EVE for a few years. As long as it can capture what those games did it will be great.

Oh I get that, I'm just not someone who has a lot of money to donate to any one game. Besides, this particular game was funded almost immediately.

I am still a massive Freelancer lover so this game promises to be something I have been wanting for years now (Darkstar One wasn't what I hoped it to be).
If it becomes what is promised I will spend way too much time on that game. :)

The Hangar Module has just been released!

Will update this post with screenshots after I installed and updated it. :)

Edit 1: My brother and I are both getting download errors, it appears the webservers are a bit overloaded... Screens will come tomorrow I hope.

Edit 2: Everything is downloaded by now but all day I have been getting authentication errors as the servers are still overloaded. :(

As of now the Organisation system has been launched for Star Citizen, is there any interest to create a UKCS one?

Haha, I have been in the DFM multiplayer since the first batch of 60k people but have yet to try it... At first it was impossible due to my broken elbow but I can play a bit now. :)

As for the Gladius... I already spend nearly $200 on the game so I will now wait till the game is released before I spend more (unless something really cool is released for the Hornet) as it would be a shame to spend tons of money on it and then getting bored of it after a couple of months. :P

I really enjoyed the new racing module very steep learning curve though and not having the ability to remap controls is a pain but the aesthetics of the game still wow me every time considering trading my 325 and misc freelancer for a constellation but we will see :P
