[PC - F2P] The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot

Postby Flare on Sat Jan 25, 2014 2:23 pm

Game is in open beta, or at least I was able to just play it with no hassle despite the 'closed beta' screen.

What is it ?
A silly Diablo like game where you raid castles, grab loot and manage your own castle. You can raid player castles and NPC scenerio castle, raiding player castles actually takes some gold and life force from them unless they have been recently raided then thier castle is shielded for a time.
You set up your castle defences but you do not really get to free build, just add stuff and rooms and place monsters and traps around the place to slow the enemy player down, if they fail to complete your castle in a set time they lose.

How is it ?
Not bad, despite being a Ubisoft game, and a free to play title with all the typical shoves to the cash shop... definetly splashing the cash will net you some large advantages early on but the game is quiet fun, doesnt look bad and scratches that Diable hack and slash itch...and of course there is loot to be had.

Worth a try ?
I say yes, especially if you already have a uPlay account... just keep your wallet closed and be patiant rather than use the Finish Now button (unless you REALLY want to), and its a fun little hack and slash... the Knight was quiet fun to use and the attacks are satisfying to land.
My only real complaint is the UI is a bit clumsy and there is a lot of tiny paywalls which I assume will get bigger as you progress but by that time I think you either like the game or not.

EDIT: NOTE - The game was actually having a 'OPEN HOUSE' event where it went open beta for a short while and now has returned to closed beta status. You can still buy in if you really want but the launch day is suppose to be around 25 Feb (IIRC).

I had this many months ago and quit playing for awhile, it is a good game but a lot of time spent upgrading back then unless you spent real money which was quite annoying as people who did had unbeatable castles most the time but it is worth a go!

I heard very, very bad things about the payment model in that game so I'm probably going to steer clear.

This
This is my sandvich. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My sandvich is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my sandvich is useless. Without my sandvich, I am useless. I must eat my sandvich true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy, who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will. Before lunch I swear this creed: my sandvich and myself are defenders of my country, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but sandvich. Om nom.

There was a big issue with the pay system , bling could pretty much buy your way to a super castle with no effort but TotalBiscut put up a video and the backlash got Ubi to re-think it... its not as bad anymore.
There are now limits , you have to play to advance to be able to use cash to buy more power so you can buy power but you have to play to be able to get to that stage and with no pay you have to basically wait out build timers.

Thats all besides the point, you can quiet happily raid the scenerio dungeons and other players castles with no issue... then its a fun little Diablo game with a funny sense of humour Orcs must Die style, all for free... I aint putting cash in and got some gameplay in.

In brief , pay system has been toned down a lot and it offers a few good hours of fun for free. The only downside is you have to set up a uPlay account (but it doesnt require a special uPlay system like Steam / Origin ...just a account and you log in the game).
